SPECIAL MESSAGE TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
You and your child are the most important people at Marian Academy. Your child is the reason for the existence of Marian Academy, which is devoted to the academic, moral, social and religious development of him or her. We are also totally convinced and committed to the truth that you as a parent or guardian have primary responsibility for promoting the full development, including the academic development, of your child. The role of Marian Academy is to support and assist you in this important God-given responsibility of developing a healthy, enlightened, creative, socially conscious and self-reliant child. Our School Motto, “In the Light of Wisdom” constantly reminds us that we aim far beyond imparting information, towards wisdom, “experience and knowledge together with the power of applying them critically, practically and prudently”
For this reason we consider it vital that parents and guardians take an active role in all educational and other school activities, that they participate in the Parent Teachers Association, and contribute to the formulation, implementation and amendment of the rules and regulations of the school.
We are also fully aware that you have deliberately chosen to share your responsibility for the education of your child with Marian Academy over the other options open to you, perhaps at considerable personal sacrifice. We know that you have done so not merely for the quality of our academic programme but perhaps even more, because of our commitment to promoting ideals long associated with Catholic education: solid moral values and integrity based on a strong religious foundation and good example, dedication and commitment to service, acquired self discipline, and the integrated development of the whole person.
None of these goals is achievable, without your full support and active participation, along with staff and the students themselves, in promoting the ideals and values of Marian Academy in a Guyanese society which so urgently needs talented human resources as well as citizens of unshakeable integrity, exemplary dedication and respect for themselves and their fellow citizens. None of them will be fully attained without consensus and collaboration between parents and guardians, the school staff and the children.themselves in free and committed observance of the school policies, regulations and rules.
We invite you to carefully read the manual which contains the basic school regulations designed to promote these noble but achievable goals. We request you to seek clarification with us on any issues that need to be made clearer, make suggestions for amending our rules and procedures to improve the performance of our new school, and join with us in explaining them to your child so that we can together ensure that our children respect and obey the rules and regulations.
